The Maritime Labour Convention 2006 provides protection at work for the world's seafarers. It sets out seafarers' rights to decent conditions of work on a wide range of subjects, aiming to apply globally, and be easy to understand and follow. It replaces almost 70 existing conventions and regulations.

Made together with the International Maritime Employers’ Committee (IMEC), Videotel have created a training package of video with support booklets, course and website providing an outline of the purpose of the Convention, what it contains and how it works.

ISM DESIGNATED PERSON BASIC TRAINING COURSE NOW ONLINE

On 19 October 2007, the IMO issued guidance on the training necessary for undertaking the role of the DP under the ISM Code through a circular ref:MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.6.  

We are pleased to announce that jointly with the World Maritime University we have now produced a course in accordance with the IMO circular. The course is available as a distance learning program CBT and online, taking approximately 25 hours to complete. The target users are DPs, however, it is also suitable for Senior/Junior Ship Management Executives and Ship's Officers who wish to learn more about the role of the DP. Candidates who complete the course receive a course completion certificate bearing the Videotel and WMU logos.  

This course joins a host of other training titles available to use online, covering many areas of safety, risk and the environment, and specialised subjects such as ECDIS and GMDSS.
