MACHINERY ALARMS AND PROTECTION DEVICES

  Code No 528

Time: 18 Mins

This video has a powerful message for marine engineers. Engineering breakdowns on board ship can cause disastrous injuries to ship’s personnel over and above the physical damage they can cause to machinery. For this reason entire systems of alarms and protection devices are installed in the engine rooms.

This video establishes the absolute necessity to ensure that all components of the alarm systems and protection devices are kept in full working condition at all times for them to be reliable.

It describes systems to show the various components which are used to make up the warning devices and the protection circuits. For the most important systems are those which protect personnel, connected to, for example, main engine, power generation and boilers.

There are descriptive scenes to introduce the various sensors, level sensors, temperature and pressure sensors which are used in typical applications. Their test procedures are shown.
