The video begins by showing the correct and safe procedure for lighting and welding
torch, for adjusting the flame, for holding the blowpipe and the filler rods. It
continues with a series of illustrations showing the correct method for making butt
welds in the flat and vertical positions, corner welds and fillet welds.
Demonstrations, as seen by the operator in big close-up, emphasize the correct
procedure and are followed by instances of the results when the correct procedure
is not followed. The film concludes by showing the correct close-down procedure.
This video takes us a stage further showing more advanced techniques and
commences by emphasizing the importance of choosing the correct operating
conditions. It illustrates tacking procedures, vertical, horizontal and overhead
techniques. As in Part I both correct and incorrect procedures are shown in big
close-up from the operator’s point of view. The weld pool can be seen in great detail
and the film concludes by demonstrating how each of the techniques may be applied
when welding a pipe.
