SAFETY OFFICER TRAINING COURSE

     Code No 820

This course is intended for maritime officers who have to carry out the role of Safety Officer onboard. Its aims are to ensure that the user is trained within the current legislative framework and to provide a record of this training. The course can be used onboard ship or ashore and is designed for individual self-study. Users’ data can be exported and imported if they move location.

It can also be used to provide training for all on board and is accredited by the Nautical Institute, and various flag states.

Course Contents
The course contains 4 Sections, a set of Project Files, a Test and a Reference Library.

The four Sections are:

  1. Getting Organised
  2. Think Safe, Be Safe
  3. Safe Place to Work and Live
  4. When Things Go Wrong

Each Section is divided into Modules relevant to the Section topic. They require the user to watch video clips, answer questions and enter text. Each Module takes about 30 minutes to complete and incorporates a Workbook for recording relevant information.

At the end of each Module there is a quiz to test knowledge of the material within the Module. All except two Modules also have Project Files which require the user to apply the knowledge they have just acquired within the context of their ship’s operations.

There is a Test covering material from all Sections of the course and a Reference Library which lists other useful sources of information, such as relevant videos and helpful websites.

For individuals or companies who require it, certification is also available and details of this process are contained within the CD or can be obtained from the Videotel website.
