Phrases (SMCPs) of the IMO
Instructor-guided training and self-study
Comprehensive dialogue sections contain a number of exercises designed to expand
a person’s ability to understand spoken messages and respond to them orally.
International Standards in Seafaring
In accordance with the ISM Code and STCW Convention, there is a growing demand
for the training of mariners and service personnel.
Today, comprehensive knowledge is required in the technical fields of safety,
emergency situations and risk management. Due to the multi-national character of
ships’ crews, appropriate maritime English has to be added to these abilities in order
to guarantee higher safety at sea as demanded by the international standards.
Several scenarios based on real-life situations have been created to introduce the
user to the special vocabulary that makes up SMCPs and to make the practising of
the phrases more effective.
The user can also listen to routine or distress communications in order to give
him/her a real impression of the situations.
