This course covers how to put risk assessment into practice on board ship without being too complicated. Users will understand that risk assessment is a useful tool that helps prevent accidents, incidents and injuries where possible. The course is based on the principles of basic seamanship and gives comprehensive understanding of risks and hazards onboard ship.

It is designed for Senior and Junior Officers onboard ship, Cadets, and shore based management and aims to increase the awareness of risks and hazards onboard ship, and help the user to gain the appropriate knowledge to carry out a risk assessment.

On completing the course, users will understand about and be able to identify risks and hazards, the principles of risk assessment, and be able to follow a systematic approach to carrying out risk assessment themselves.
