Training Management

Videotel Marine International creates training solutions predominantly for the Maritime industry. Others areas that benefit from the bespoke programmes are the offshore industry, the catering industry and the hotel industry, as well as corporate companies and government authorities.

By producing over twenty titles per year, Videotel maintain their on-going catalogue of training programmes, which offers the seafarer and others a wealth of information on safety and operational procedures. The easy-to-use catalogue incorporates 650 titles presented as multimedia courses, DVDs / videos, interactive CBTs, VCDs and printed workbooks. In addition there are 300 titles in the COBALT series, specifically designed for Engineers.

Videotel also supplies solutions in the form of web-deliverable training, Competency Management systems, Assessment requirements and e-learning.

Sometimes the solution to a training requirement can be as simple as changing the medium in which the training is delivered, or providing a translation into another language. Other times the solution may be more complex as to produce and host a multi-cultural, multi-user, multi-response programme over the Internet.

Whatever the requirement, Videotel will create the solution.

Fleet-wide Training Management
The need for ship managers to record all aspects of crew training has changed from advisory to mandatory.

More than ever before it is necessary for ship operators to maintain comprehensive and clear details of all the crew training that is carried out. This applies to all aspects of training whether it is attendance and completion of statutory STCW courses or the holding of training sessions onboard. The requirements of the ISM Code & STCW Code mean that crew need to take part in drills and other training events onboard and that all these are recorded. Having a good set of training records onboard when a Port State inspector or SIRE inspector visits, greatly increases the chances that he will be satisfied that the ship's training program is being well attended to. Similarly, in head office, being able to produce records of training for all ships and for all crew members will positively influence any audit.

Videotel offer two sophisticated systems that electronically gather training records to a centralised database:

Videotel is pleased to announce its support of OCIMF's Tanker Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA) programme; a comprehensive tool to help ship operators measure and improve their management systems.
